Mauna Lani Point

1. Location

Mauna Lani Point is a very private, gated community located within the 3,200 acre Mauna Lani Resort on the Kohala Sun Coast. These luxury condos are surrounded by the lush green golf course, blue seas and black lava.

Mauna Lani Point is entirely self-contained; it even has a miniature grocery store and a racquetball court.

A private beach club is only a short drive from the condo. Kona town is about 30 min away.

2. Rooms

Private lanais overlook the golf course or the ocean. The view from your lanai will be hypnotic, the kind of tropical beauty you only see in the movies.

Fully equipped kitchen features granite counters, European cabinets, dishwasher and microwave. Luxurious bathroom has dual sinks, shower, and a huge soaking tub.

There are 116 condos. Each unit has:
  • 2-story buildings
  • Spacious 1,400 to 1,900 sq. ft. units
  • Air-conditioning and ceiling fans
  • Lanai with lounge chairs and table
  • Dining room
  • Color TV
  • Washer/dryer
  • Iron and board
  • Free daily maid service
  • Complimentary newspaper

3. Restaurants

Mauna Lani Point does not have an on-site restaurant, but quite a few restaurants and cafes are located within 1-2 miles from the condo. Here are our 3 favorite places:

1) The Gallery Restaurant - 1.7 miles away, at Frances I'i Brown Championship Course Clubhouse

This open-air restaurant overlooks the resort's golf courses and the ocean. The menu features Hawaiian Regional and American cuisines with distinctive Mediterranean twists: six-peppered ahi (sashimi- style ahi on a bed of Japanese cucumbers with Pommery mustard sauce) and interesting pastas, such as ratatouille ravioli with pesto sauce.

You can choose fresh fish prepared different ways, for example, baked in a macadamia-nut crust with lobster brandy sauce. The wine list has a great selection of California vintages.

2) The Orchid Court - located 2.5 miles away, at Fairmont Orchid

This restaurant is one of Big Island's favorite breakfast places. It serves tempting a la carte items and sumptous buffet.

Buffet menu includes delicious chicken apple, pork link and Portuguese ausages, crispy apple wood smoke bacon, made-to-order egg station with omelets and egg subsitutes cooked any way you want them, bagels with all the works (including lox and capers), fresh baked pastries, muffins and breaf, cereals, fresh tropical fruit and melon, yogurt, Japanese miso soup and tsukemono, fresh fish of the morning, potato dish of the day, not to mention the chef's daily special like crepes, Belgian waffles or macadamia nut pancakes. Have a wonderful morning!

3) The Paniolo Lounge and Polo Bar - located 2.5 miles away, at Fairmont Orchid

Enjoy a relaxing game of billiards or board games in the comfortable and classy lounge. Sink into a handsome, oversized leather couch and have an appetizer from the pub-style menu. Indulge in a fine selection of cordials, gourmet coffee drinks, spirits, desserts and fine cigars.

4. Things to do

  • Pool and Beach Activities
Mauna Lani Point's own recreation area features a freshwater pool, wading pool, waterfall, whirlpool spa and sauna. In addition, there is an outdoor BBQ area with complete kitchen. The nearby Private Beach Club with clear water and white sand beach offers fantastic snorkeling, lounge chairs and towels and an open-air bar/restaurant. The adjacent boathouse offers scuba, sunset cruises, and whale watching.

  • Racquet Club
Mauna Lani Racquet Club features six hard and two grass courts, pro shop, weight room, steam room, whirlpool and 25-meter lap pool. You will get discounted rates as a hotel guest.

  • 36-Hole Golf Course
Francis H. I'i Brown Golf Course is located next to Mauna Lani Point. Francis H. I'i Brown created a golf course that is modern and unmistakenly Hawaiian at the same time. The course was built on the land that once belonged to Hawaiian royalty and still contains some archeological sites and ancient fishpond.

This place is uncommonly beautiful and full of contrasts - black lava, blue ocean, green faiways and tree-lined lagoons. In fact, Francis H. I'i Brown Course was named "one of the most beautiful seaside golf courses in the world" by Golf Magazine.

The course is challenging for both amateurs and pros. It consists of two 18-hole complexes, The South and North Course. The South Course is built on rugged lava and surrounded by mountain and ocean views. The North Course has many mesquite trees and rolling terrain. Herds of feral goats frequent both courses, moving from hole to hole throughout the day.

    Other facilities include:
  • Fantastic deep-see fishing and scuba over colorful reefs
  • Historic royal fishponds nearby
  • Scenic jogging trails
  • 6 tennis courts
  • Concierge
  • Grocery delivery
  • Guest charging privileges at select resort restaurants
  • Resort shuttle service
  • Dry cleaning service
  • Free parking
