1. Location

Kapalua Villas Maui (also known as Kapalua Bay Villas) are located on Maui’s northwest coast, 17 miles from Maui’s main airport, Kahului (OGG). To get to the resort, you will follow a scenic winding road lined with flowering shrubs and trees.

Once you arrive, the views will seriously take your breath away. Kapalua Villas Maui overlook a dramatic coastline of lava peninsulas and secluded ocean bays, surrounded by green fairways and a 23,000 acre working pineapple plantation. Kapalua is one of Maui's most natural, untouched resort areas.

Everything that you need is nearby. The supermarkets in Napili and Kahana are just a short drive away. You can pick up some groceries, cook your own dinner and eat it outside on the lanai while watching the sunset.

If you are looking for unique shops, interesting restaurants and art galleries, you will find all of that only 10 miles away in the historic Lahaina town.

2. Villas

Villas
All villas at Kapalua Bay Villas were built in 1980. They are grouped into 3 different communities. Each community has its own rectangular-shaped pool with lounge chairs, outdoor barbecues and private garden area.

1) Golf Villas. Fairway view villas overlook the golf course, and some of them also allow you a peek at the ocean.

2) Bay Villas. Ocean front villas are the most expensive out all 3 communities, but if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed. They are very close to the water, so you will enjoy great view of the ocean, lava rocks and cliffs from the room, or sit on the lanai and watch the whales and ships go by.

3) Ridge Villas. Ocean view villas sit on the top of the ridge and offer sweeping views of the Pacific, and the islands of Lanai and Molokai and the distance. In winter, you can see whales playing in the water just off the gorgeous beaches that lie below. You can also see the golf course on the other side, so it's kind of like the best of both worlds.

There are 280 villas. Each villa has:

3. Restaurants

Restaurants
Kapalua Villas Maui does not have an on-site restaurant, but the next-door Kapalua Bay Hotel and Ritz-Carlton Kapalua offer 11 restaurants. You can either walk there, or take a free shuttle. Here are our 3 favorite places:

1) The Banyan Tree - located at Ritz-Carlton Kapalua
This 4-diamond restaurant specializes in "eclectic Pacific cuisine". Food is really extraordinary, it is also a favorite for Sunday Champagne Brunch. Perfect spot for sunset cocktails and dinner - the views of Molokai and the Pacific are amazing here! You can also listen to Ranga Rae, a unique world-fusion duo playing exotic Pacific Island instruments 5 nights a week.

2) The Terrace - located at Ritz-Carlton Kapalua
Start your day with their yummy Plantation Breakfast Buffet that includes lobster Benedict, Belgian waffles, macadamia nut pancakes and Kapalua pineapple. You will be greeted with a warm Aloha and freshly brewed coffee. Smell the ocean and feel fresh sea breezes while you are sitting outside looking at the manicured gardens, the 3-tiered pool and the Pacific Ocean.

3) The Beach House Bar & Grill - located at Ritz-Carlton Kapalua
One of most famous restaurants at Ritz-Carlton Kapalua. It focuses on innovative Hawaiian cuisine and has a private dining room. Try exotic dishes like braised uku and watercress with fresh island vegetables and coconut water.

4. Things to do

Around the resort
Complimentary shuttle will take you anywhere in the Kapalua community (golf course, art school, another hotel) for free. They have 3 vans that operate all the time, which is very convenient.
As a guest at Kapalua Villas Maui, you have access to all facilities of the two neighbor hotels – Ritz-Carlton Kapalua and Kapalua Bay Hotel. Anything that you buy there can be charged directly to your room. Their most popular facilities are:

Beach
There are 3 beautiful white sand beaches on site. The beach at Kapalua Bay has been honored as one of America’s best, in a study done by the University of Maryland’s Laboratory of Coastal Research. It can get windy during winter months though.
Snorkeling is very good right off the shore. Each evening, you can see sea turtles come to the small coves.
Golf
Kapalua Resort has 3 championship golf courses that offer preferred rates for Kapalua Villas guests:
1) The Bay Course - par 72, designed by Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane. It is set among pineapple fields and breathtaking natural formations.
2) The Village Course - par 71, designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. First 5 holes sit high into the West Maui Mountains, surrounded by palms and hibiscus. Holes #4 and #5 are set on a lava peninsula that carves two sparkling bays. When you emerge on the 6th tee, you are greeted by a stunning panorama of the Pacific.
3) The Plantation Course - par 73, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Creshaw. This is a mountain course that climbs to 750 ft above sea level through centuries-old groves of eucalyptus and Cook pines. Enjoy panoramic views of a pristine lake, pineapple fields, lush green gorges filled with guava, passion fruit and grasses. Hole #7 is the most dramatic with a 150 ft drop in elevation from tee to green.
- Kapalua Golf Academy: Hawaii's first state-of-the-art Golf Academy opened its doors in August of 2000. Designed by Senior PGA Tour Professional Hale Irwin, the Kapalua Golf Academy offers a wide range of instruction to benefit players of all levels, including clinics, one- and two-day golf schools, putting green, warm-up range and organized tournaments.
Tennis
Kapalua is consistently ranked among the top tennis destinations in the world. They have 2 tennis centers, the largest staff of tennis pros in the state, year-round tournaments, tennis camps, pro shops, and, of course, a splendid natural setting.
There are 20 plexi-paved courts, 9 of them are lighted. Matchmaking services are available.
