Maui Prince Hotel is the last resort in Wailea/Makena strip in South Maui. If you drive further south, you will get to Makena's Big Beach (Maui's last undeveloped beach of its size), LaPerouse Bay and Maui's last lava flow, which spilled out of Haleakala Crater around 1790.
Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort is a little out of the way for some of the island's activities (Lahaina town is an hour away), but if you are mostly looking for beach activities and water sports, you will find plenty of those things right at your doorstep.
The hotel building is surrounded by 1,800 acres of tropical gardens. Asian-style landscaping and open courtyards create a very natural, open feel. You can be yourself at this resort, everyone is here to relax and enjoy Maui.
Maui's main airport, Kahului Airport, is 16 miles away. When you first arrive to the hotel, you will be greeted with a shell lei and cold, moist towels to freshen up - a very nice touch!

This restaurant received Hale Aina award as "Best Hotel Restaurant on Maui". It specializes in Contemporary Island Cuisine, including delicious Seafood, Steaks and Game. Dishes such as Tempura Crusted Ahi with ginger butter, The Ultimate Game, which includes Lamb, Venison and Foie Gras, and the Tenderloin of Beef with Half Stuffed Kona Lobster is a sampling of what you will discover in Prince Court. The beach in front of Maui Prince Hotel Makena Resort is simply amazing. It is big, uncrowded, with gentle surf, warm water, and excellent snorkeling. A wide grass area next to the beach is perfect for lounging around and watching the clouds.On the southern end of the beach you can see a reef called "Turtle Town" where you can snorkel right next to the giant green sea turtles. A quick tip - go as early in the morning as you can because there are fewer waves then.
If you stay at Maui Prince Hotel between November and April, you will have a perfect view of the whales playing in the water just off the beach.
