Location of Outrigger Fairway Villas is very quaint, yet convenient. You will feel like you are on a remote pristine island - it is just so quiet and peaceful, especially at night!
Many shops, fast-food places and upscale restaurants at Kings' Shops are within easy walking distance. The main town, Kona, is about 25 miles south of the condos.
Kona Airport is a 20-min drive away. When you first arrive, check-in is located at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort, which is a 5-min drive from the Outrigger Fairway Villas (villas do not have their own check-in desk).

3. Restaurants
There are quite a few restaurants and cafes located within 1-2 miles from the condo. Here are our 5 favorite places:
1) Donatoni's - 1 mile away, at Hilton Waikoloa Village
This is one of the most romantic restaurants in Hawaii, known for its old Italian ambiance. Donatoni’s has welcomed superstars like Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner, John Glenn, and many others.
Designed as an Italian villa, Donatoni’s offers lanai front seating along the waterway with beautiful sunset views. You can enjoy intimate dining in one of four separate dining rooms that offer comfortable seating and beautiful floral arrangements.
Some of their best entrees are:
- Filleto Mediterraneo
Beef tenderloin, marinated and grilled, topped with artichokes, arugula and sun dried tomatoes, served with mashed potatoes and porcini truffle aioli. - Agnello Marchigiano
Pan roasted rack of lamb with figs, mint saffron infusion, served with mashed potatoes. - Pescespada Del Ponente
Grilled swordfish with cannellini beans and asparagus salad.
2) Kamuela Provision Company - 1 mile away, at Hilton Waikoloa Village
Start your evening by sipping a tropical cocktail while viewing the breathtaking Pacific sunset, or order a glass of wine from the new wine bar. Between 6 and 9pm, you can listen to contemporary island guitar music which sets a perfect mood for the evening.
Menu at Kamuela Provision Company includes charbroiled steaks, fresh seafood and Hawaiian delicacies like:
- Tahitian Curried Crab Soup
Garnished with crab crostini, leeks and carrots. - Volcano Seared Blue Pacific Ahi
Mildly spiced seared sashimi grade ahi on three bean rice salad with shoyu lime and creamy mustard sauce. - Mild Red Thai Shrimp Curry
Served in a pineapple half, with roasted pineapple and steamed white rice.
3) Hawaii Calls Restaurant - 0.7 miles away, at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort
Specializes in a unique blend of ethnic cuisine that combines Asian and Hawaiian traditions. You will enjoy beautiful views of sunrise or sunset over Anaehoomalu Bay. Open for breakfast, dinner and cocktails.
4) Royal Luau - 0.7 miles away, at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort
The sound of a conch shell welcomes you to the traditional Hawaiian feast. You get typical Polynesian and Asian dishes, such as Teriyaki beef, sweet and sour pork, Hawaiian Sweet Potatos, Mahi Mahi, etc., and tropical drinks. The setting is beautiful, the show is very good, and the atmosphere is distinctly Hawaiian. Luau runs Sundays and Wednesdays at 5 pm.
5) The Clipper Lounge - 0.7 miles away, at Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort
Offers a light bistro menu, cocktails, and Hawaiian entertainment every evening. Try the ever-popular 'Clippertini' drink! Open 5pm-11pm.
4. Things to do
- Swimming pool (small but clean and warm)

- Poolside picnic areas with gas barbecue grills
- Fitness center
- Several championship golf courses are nearby

- Nearby facilities:
You are invited to use facilities at the Villas' sister property - Waikoloa Beach Marriot, an Outrigger Resort. It is only a 5-min drive.
Check out their swimming pool with water slide, or relax at the excellent Anaehoomalu Bay beach. Other facilities include children's program (Marriott Keiki Club), tennis courts, Hawaii Calls Restaurant and Hawaiian Rainforest Spa. Any charges can be billed directly to your condo.
- Kings' Shops:
An easy walk from the Outrigger Fairway Villas are Kings' Shops - the largest mall on the Kohala Coast, with 75,000 sq ft of shopping, dining, and entertainment. They have art and furnishings, specialty gifts, DFS duty free shops, and an array of restaurants.
Dolphin Galleries offer fine art, bronze and glassware; you can get shell souvenirs, from jewelry to wind chimes, at Island Shells, a beautiful locally made ukulele at the Ukulele House (they have over 150 different ukuleles on display, including some unique vinatage instruments).
If you are interested in fine jewelry, take a look at Kings’ jewelry stores like Haimoff & Haimoff (unusual designs with flair and individuality are their specialty), Maui Divers (corals, South Seas pearls, Tahitian black pearls, opals, diamonds), or Royal Gold (elegant Hawaiian heirloom jewelry in gold, exotic Tahitian black pearls and exquisite crystal).
You can find all kinds of resort wear at Crazy Shirts, Honolua Surf Co. (hip, high quality, casual wear with a tropical twist), Kane Malia (Aloha wear), Kubuku (multitude of sarong skirts), Macy’s or Louis Vuitton.
- Golf:
Two outstanding courses are nearby:
Beach Course - designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., it literally carves through the magnificent lava flows along scenic Anaehoomalu Bay. The par-70 Beach Course features numerous sand bunkers, water features and the most spectacular oceanfront par-5 in Hawaii on the 502-yard, 12th hole. From this hole, you can see awesome vistas of neighboring islands, and in winter, whales breaching offshore.
Kings' Course - This 7,064-yard, 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by former British Open champion, Tom Weiskopf, and Jay Morrish. It has a Scottish links-style layout with pot bunkers, undulating fairways, multiple tee placements and lava outcroppings. Golf Digest rated it one of the top two new resorts in America.
